Puntas de Jose Ignacio
Puntas de Jose Ignacio consists of four project steps
1. Development of the village and green tourism
2. Apprenticeship cluster and settlement of companies
3 Infrastructure and agriculture
4. International presence
All four steps will be carried out individually and are also financed on their own. Due to the wide context and overlapping benefits, even more synergies can be created.

The first step of the way is the development of a
village within a five hectare area. The goal is to combine
the european-uruguayan history and make it directly
accessible through local and international tourists.
Also, it should function as a successful example of
sustainable regional development and green tourism.
First, a central building will be built and conjoined
with various side buildings like a workshop and
agricultural buildings as well as residential housing.
Additionally, local housing will be offered within the
village rich in history, certain shuttle services to Punta
del Este, and horse riding possibilities.1. Village Development and Tourism -
2. Corporate LocationAn important part of the regional development program
of Puntas de José Ignacio is the creation of a cluster with
European craft-persons. Nowadays we see a strong interest
in a dual education program like it is practiced in Europe.
With the support of the government and development
agencies as well as through unions and other organisations,
European know how is successfully transferred in many countries.
On the one hand, the cluster will focus on German craftsmen,
who want to educate and train local producers. On the other
hand, local businesses who are interested in getting a qualitative
education and are operating local workshops will be matched
with these international professionals. These cooperations
are supported by Uruguayan and Austrian grants. -
3. Infrastructure & AgricultureIn autumn 2016, the Uruguayan government has declared a
large area in the proximity of Puntas de José Ignacio as a
touristic destination. The government of the Maldonado
district is pushing the development of local infrastructure,
as to further support the whole region. In line with the
PJI-project, a sustainable and ecological way of building will
be used and prioritized.
Through the small-structured agricultural use, natural
cultivation and sustainable infrastructure, the whole region
will not only become more attractive to tourists, but will also
provide a higher added value at the same time, while
supporting the ecological production of quality products. -
4. International VisibilityThe family brand acts as a symbol for the whole region
as well as for the project company. All of the goods produced
in the region can be marked with the brand as long as they
fulfill the quality- and production-requirements. As for
marketing, a cooperation with 'Liga del Este' is close to being
finalized, which will grant producers the direct access to
clients all over Punta del Este.
The future vision of a 'Alpbach of Latin America' is an example
of a successful combination of traditional living conditions
and economical excellence with green tourism and a sustainable
political agenda. A tourism destination in a small country
which stands for political and economical stability and is
located in between big neighboring countries and thus
provides a neutral ground for international discussions.
